Melvin Mora had 2 base hits as the St. Paul Saints defeated the Dublin
Pubcrawlers in 11 innings by a score of 5 to 2 at the ballpark.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. St. Paul was
victorious in the 11th inning. Mora led off and started the rally when he
slapped a one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Mora took his lead and
swiped second. One out later, Bengie Molina came to the plate and drew a
walk. Esteban German followed and he tripled scoring two teammates. Jose
Reyes stepped into the box and doubled scoring the final run of the inning.
St. Paul managed 9 hits in their victory.
Chris Sampson(2-1) went 4 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Chris
Capuano(2-5) was given the loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 3 runs in 2 innings.
For St. Paul the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling
in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record. Dublin has a record
of 48-69 after the loss.
